Erling Haaland celebrates the goal scored for Dortmund.
Barcelona continue to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s goal machine Erling Haaland, but have offered a plan B in case he fails to land the Norway international in the summer transfer window.
Haaland remains Barcelona’s ‘dream’ summer signing, but the club’s difficult financial situation means the forward could be out of reach, as Javier Gascon has reported to Mundo Deportivo. Barca’s ‘Plan B’, if that proves the case, is Fiorentina’s much-loved center-forward Dusan Vlahovic.
Haaland would have a release clause in his contract set at â¬75million which can be activated in the summer of 2022. The striker is also reportedly earning a high salary and has also caught the attention of Premier League clubs as well as Real Madrid.
Vlahovic would be a “less complex and cheaper” option for Barcelona. The 21-year-old’s contract expires in 2023, which puts the suitors in a strong position to negotiate a price.
The youngster scored 21 Serie A goals last season for Fiorentina and already has 16 in just 19 league appearances so far in the 2021-22 campaign. Indeed, Vlahovic’s record in 2021 is truly impressive, as Gracenote Live shows.

Laporta met Haaland’s agent
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has a good relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and the two met in Italy in early December 2021, as reported by transfer expert. Fabrice Romano.
Raiola has since claimed that Barcelona are one of many clubs that could sign Haaland, despite the Catalan giants’ well-documented financial woes. He told Sport1 that Barca are in contention with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
âMaybe this summer, maybe the next summer. But there’s a good chance Erling will leave this summer. We will see, “he said.” He can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, ââCity – these are the big clubs he can go to. City have won the league five times in in recent years, far more than United. “We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that that step would come.”
Haaland has continued his prolific form for Dortmund this season to remain one of Europe’s most wanted players. The striker has scored 13 goals in just 11 Bundesliga appearances and three in three Champions League appearances.
Vlahovic rejects Fiorentina extension
Meanwhile, the likelihood of Vlahovic leaving Fiorentina increased as the striker rejected the offer of a new contract with the Serie A side. Club owner Rocco Commisso confirmed that Vlahovic had rejected the possibility of becoming the highest paid player in Fiorentina, as reported by 90min.
“So I would like to inform Fiorentina fans about an issue that has been the subject of much ink in recent months: the question of Dusan Vlahovic’s contract. As you know, Fiorentina have made a very important offer to the player. Our proposal would have made him the highest paid player in club history, “he wrote in a letter to fans.” We have also improved our offering on several occasions in order to meet the demands of Dusan and his entourage. However, despite our efforts, these offers were not accepted.
Vlahovic’s goalscoring exploits mean he is unlikely to run out of offers to leave Fiorentina, although Barca may struggle to compete financially if a bidding war for the 21-year-old breaks out.
