Barcelona want to sign 120 million euros in time – transfer report

According to the journalist Rubén Uria on Carrusel DeportivoBarcelona are interested in signing Portuguese striker Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

Felix arrived at athlete in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth around €120m but struggled to get off to a good start in the Spanish capital. The former Benfica wonderkid never quite fit the profile of players that Diego Simeone favors and it showed the striker is still struggling to adapt to El Cholo’s manners.

The 22-year-old has made nearly 100 appearances for Los Rojiblancos, having only managed a total of 22 goals, with just three of them in the current campaign. Simeone preferred Griezmann, Suarez, Matheus Cunha and Angel Correa ahead of Felix this term. And, the attacker is frustrated with his situation and is looking for an exit.

Barcelona may now be willing to offer Felix a way out, with Ruben Uria claiming the Catalan giants are interested in the Portuguese striker.

Identifying alternatives would therefore be a smart move, and Felix could be on that option, with reports claiming Barca have been trying to sign him for three years. However, given his questionable displays during his time in Spain, there will be question marks over his ability to cut it at Camp Nou.

Moreover, signing the Portugal international could also be tricky as Atletico Madrid intend to keep him. Journalist Javier Matellanas (h/t SER padlock) claimed Simeone would be happy to sanction an exit for the 22-year-old, but club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin remains keen to keep his hands on the former Benfica wonderkid.
