Manchester City star Ferran Torres is set to join Barcelona in January – but a deal might not have been possible without the influence of his apparent girlfriend.
The Catalan giants have agreed to pay a fee of £ 46.7million with an additional £ 8.5million for the striker.
It was despite their well-documented financial situation, which forced Lionel Messi to leave Camp Nou this summer, and saw some prominent names being asked for pay cuts.
However, following Sergio Aguero’s untimely retirement, Barcelona need a new center-forward, and Torres fits the bill perfectly.
Aside from the fact that a move to Barcelona gives the Spaniard a fresh start after a spell of injury at the Etihad, there’s a big reason the man himself might be interested in a change.
According to Spanish media EnBlau, the 21-year-old has a long-distance relationship with Sira Martinez, daughter of former Barca legend Luis Enrique.
Enrique, 51, spent eight years as a player at Camp Nou, winning two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
He returned to the club as manager in 2014, winning nine other major honors, including back-to-back La Liga titles, three back-to-back Copa del Rey triumphs and the Champions League in 2015.
While it is not known how long Torres and Sira have been dating, it has been suggested that the town ace has been pushing to get closer to the Barcelona hero’s daughter – and it is not difficult to see why.

Sira, who is also 21, is a professional rider from the Catalan capital and a member of the famous Barcelona Royal Polo Club.
Torres might know how to control a soccer ball, but Sira is in a league of its own when it comes to horses.
She has participated in both the Sunshine Tour and the prestigious Longines Global Champions Tour, posting her adventures on Instagram, where she has 18,900 subscribers.
The brunette likes to post her equestrian exploits on her social media account, without any mention of her romantic bond with Torres.
For his part, Torres is already in the good books of Sira’s father, having won his 22 caps in Spain since his future stepfather took over the national team.
Four of them have come this season in what has been an injury-interrupted campaign for the forward, with a broken foot limiting him to just six appearances for City in all competitions.
