In the final game of their exhibition tour, India’s U-17 Women’s National Team decisively thrashed WSS Barcelona Club 17-1 on Sunday at Soccerland Stadium in Spain.

India made a dominating start to the game with Anita finding the net in the third minute. She made most of a cross from the right and pressed it down.

The young tigresses made things more difficult for opponents by continuing to maintain full control over the proceedings. At halftime, India took a 14-0 lead with goals from Anita (5′, 11′, 12′,16′, 27′), Nitu Linda (7′, 12′, 34 ‘, 38′), Lynda Kom (8′, 15′) and Neha (20′, 22’).

In exchange, coach Thomas Dennerby started the match with the replacement team.

WSS Barcelona Club seemed to be better in the second session by putting on a resilient show at the back. Goalkeeper Maria Flores made brilliant saves to prevent her team from conceding more goals. Eventually, the home side managed to open their scoresheet thanks to Sandra in the 54th minute.

A few minutes later, Lavanya tried her right shot but was saved. She got the rebound and made no mistakes to go home making it 15-1. Two minutes later, Rejiya scored from Sudha’s cross.

India added more shine to the scoreline in the 75th minute as Sudha found the target after running past the WSS defense on a cross from Rejiya. She sent the ball into the top corner of the net with a perfect shot.

The India U17 team will be seen in the FIFA World Cup hosted by India.
