Barcelona came away with another difficult UEFA Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, as the Bundesliga powerhouse claimed a key 3-0 victory on Matchday 1 of the competition’s group stage.

After a promising start to the season in La Liga, the main talking points for Barca have now quickly changed following their loss to Bayern Munich. Barca just looked like a shell of themselves during the game as they failed to register a shot on target for the first time in a Champions League game in club history.

Barca striker Memphis Depay is still reeling from the resounding loss to the defending Bundesliga champions. But as he recently noted, he’s still very confident in the squad at this early stage of the season.

“The result against Bayern was obviously disappointing,” said Depay. “We have to learn from defeats and all continue in the same direction to reverse a difficult situation. But I firmly believe that we will find a way to fight for each title. We are Barça and I want to help the club make a difference.

“We have a lot of games ahead of us. Young players are ready to try their luck. We have a lot of quality and they are working hard to improve. The most important thing is that they like to play.

“We want to be as strong as any opponent. We work and train hard to be competitive. I’m sure we can surprise a lot of people. We have the players to create good football.

For now, Barcelona will have three consecutive La Liga appearances before returning to the Champions League later this month with the key group stage game against Portuguese side Benfica. Much attention is expected to be focused on how Barca will now react to adversity after such a crushing home loss.
