Porridge Radio announces new album, shares “Back to the Radio”

boiled radio announced a new album Water slide, diving board, ladder to the sky, which will be released on May 20 on Secretly Canadian. Singer and songwriter Dana Margolin says the title “symbolizes the ups and downs of human life, virtue and transgression. With this album, feelings of joy, fear and infinity coexist.”

The album was co-produced with Tom Carmichael and is both a continuation and a reaction to the fantastic Every bad, which was released in March 2020 just as the world entered the coronavirus lockdown. Dana says they were aiming bigger this time. “I kept saying I wanted everything to be ‘stadium epic’ – like Coldplay.”

The album’s first single is its opener, “Back to the Radio,” a producer that goes from slow simmer to boiling at the end. The rather stunning video, directed by Dana’s sister, Ella Margolin, places the group in a complex papier-mâché world.

“‘Back To The Radio’ feels like a huge introductory hello or a big ceremonial goodbye,” Dana says. “I wrote this at the end of 2019 as we were preparing for the release of Every bad and I felt like a lot of things were happening that I wasn’t sure how to handle. The song was born out of a feeling of intense loneliness and an unpreparedness for what everyone was promising me to happen – and a strong desire to escape without knowing what I wanted to escape to. For me, there’s a huge sense of catharsis in this song, of letting go and letting it take you away.
