Barcelona and Real Madrid would need 60 million euros to sign Portuguese defensive sensation Antonio Silva.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Benfica will demand 60 million euros to part ways with Antonio Silva. Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the potential suitors for the Portuguese defensive sensation.

Antonio Silva spent his formative years with four clubs before graduating from Benfica’s youth division. The 19-year-old joined the Portuguese giants half a dozen years ago before progressing rapidly at the club. The teenage wonderkid started training with the first team ahead of the 2022/23 season and has already established a foothold in the senior team.

The Portuguese defensive sensation has already made 16 appearances for Benfica this season, scoring notably in the UEFA Champions League. And Silva’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with some of Europe’s most prominent clubs having set their sights on him. And Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of his potential suitors.

Barcelona will be looking to sign a long-term successor for Gerard Pique following the veteran defender’s surprising decision to retire. Xavi Hernandez has just four centre-backs at his disposal. Setting up a long-term central defensive solution will therefore be a priority for the Barcelona manager. And while Inigo Martinez is about to join the BlaugranaSilva is also an option worth considering.

The Catalan giants are said to be one of several European bigwigs keen to sign Silva. But Barcelona won’t be the only top club chasing the Portuguese defensive sensation. They will have to fend off fierce competition from Real Madrid to secure the 19-year-old’s services.

Real Madrid’s interest is surprising, given that they signed Antonio Rudiger last summer. But with Nacho’s contract negotiations with Los Blancos not progressing much, they will have to invest in a centre-back. Silva is therefore a viable target for Real Madrid, given that David Alaba is on the wrong side of 30.

Barcelona and Real Madrid now know how much they will have to pay to sign Silva, with Benfica demanding 60 million euros for him. The price could be a problem for the Blaugrana amid their ongoing financial difficulties.

But Real Madrid might have no problem shelling out €60m to land the Portuguese defensive sensation. It will be interesting to see if any other clubs join the race to sign the teenage wonderkid in a deal worth €60million next summer.
