At the 15th World Congress of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS), May 21-26, 2022 in Barcelona, Spain, researchers from over 40 countries will present plenary talks and over 470 therapy and research abstracts. neuromodulation.
The first global in-person meeting of its kind in three years, the multidisciplinary program will attract clinicians, engineers, scientists, postdoctoral fellows, current students and device manufacturers. It will present topics such as:
- Recent discoveries in the management of difficult chronic pain conditions such as painful peripheral neuropathy or cluster headache
- Peripheral nerve stimulation strategies
- Neuromodulation for COVID-19
- Cardiovascular applications
- Brain-computer interfaces and neurostimulation for motor recovery after spinal cord injury
- Bioelectronic medicine, stimulation of the vagus nerve of the autonomic nervous system and the gut-brain axis
- Potential new forms of neuromodulation involving novel targets or microwave stimulation
- Neurostimulation research in areas such as neuroprotection, memory loss and treatment-resistant depression
- Developments in deep brain stimulation
- Non-invasive brain stimulation studies
- Effects of Neurostimulation Treatments for Chronic Pain on Opioid Consumption
- Current and emerging neuromodulation treatments for epilepsy and movement disorders
- Big Data and chronic pain
- Neuromodulation to treat genitourinary problems, including pelvic pain
- Mechanisms of action in neuropathic pain
“The theme, ‘Neuromodulation: From Scientific Theory to Breakthrough Therapy,’ reflects the scientific foundation and clinical application of neuromodulation therapies to reduce symptoms and restore function in chronic diseases,” said the president of the ‘INS, Dr. Marc Russo.
The three and a half day scientific program is complemented by pre-conferences and workshops.
Prior to the main INS conference, pre-conference workshops will include:
- May 21, 2022: Non-invasive brain stimulation
- May 21, 2022: “Neuromodulation; improving the quality of the life of the chronicles” (Neuromodulation; Improving Quality of Life in Chronic Diseases) – free public education event, with simultaneous Spanish-English translation
- May 22, 2022: Innovations in Neuromodulation – Neuromodulation Without Borders – an educational event for the innovation and investment community
- May 22, 2022: II Ibero-American Congress of Neuromodulation
- May 22, 2022: Practical course on corpses at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelonasuitable for anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons, pain medicine fellows, interventional pain physicians, gynecologists and urologists
During the main conference, the May 24, 2022, there will be a workshop for nurses and allied health professionals. Meanwhile, before the 15and World Congress, INS awarded recognition to two pioneers in the field, Professor Robert Foreman and Professor Bengt Linderoth, as Neuromodulation Giants. Over their decades of career, they have accumulated evidence regarding spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain and its mechanism of action, respectively.
