Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is delaying signing a contract extension with the club amid interest from La Liga giants Barcelona, according to reports.
The 25-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, which means he is allowed to discuss with foreign clubs a possible free transfer at the end of the season.
Barcelona are one of the reasons Christensen’s contract renewal at Chelsea has stalled, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Christensen recently changed the agency of his representatives as contract talks broke down between him and Chelsea as he was reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal in the past two months but has yet to sign on the dotted line, talks supposed to have stalled.
Other reports say the Dane had “no intention” of staying at Chelsea due to Barcelona’s interest.

And now Di Marzio backs up these claims by saying that “in recent weeks the deal seemed close to being concluded, but the Danish defender has changed agents and everything has to be redone.”
Di Marzio continues to write that the idea of ”changing shirts” is appealing, thinking of Barcelona.
Reports have previously said that the Catalan club “have almost concluded negotiations” with the defender in recent months, having been very attentive to the situation, so he could still leave when his contract expires.
It comes after the news that Cesar Azpilicueta is also “very close” to moving to the Catalan club as a tentative deal has been reached and only “a few personal issues” can change the course of a transfer at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether the Dane will rejoin his club captain at the end of the season.
