Revealed: 5 players Ten Hag wants Barcelona as one

A series of major complaints about the potential appointment of Ajax manager Erik ten Hag to FC Barcelona surfaced online on Monday.

Suarez returns to haunt Koeman

The subject of the Camp Nou bench has of course continued to grab the headlines for the past 48 hours.

This comes from the fact that the Blaugrana slipped to another thoroughly disturbing loss on Saturday night.

Only a few days after a 3-0 at the hands of Benfica in the Champions League, Ronald Koeman and co. made the trip to Wanda Metropolitano, for a confrontation in La Liga with champions Atletico Madrid.

And, at the final whistle in the Spanish capital, Barça only plunged further into despair.

The latest in a string of abject and lifeless performances finally saw the visitors go through the sword by two goals to nil, to slip to a modest 9th in the La Liga table.

Thomas Lemar opened the scoring of the game from the start, before a familiar face condemned Barca to a deserved 2nd defeat in the space of three days:

Ten Hag aligned?

In turn, with Barcelona’s hopes of mounting a real La Liga title challenge looking less and less realistic week by week, and the Catalan giants’ European efforts resulting in back-to-back 3-0 defeats, this does not should come as no surprise to hear that calls have started to mount for Ronald Koeman to be fired with immediate effect.

The Blaugrana faithful have made no secret of their desire to see the Dutchman evolve, with club legend Xavi Hernandez the favorite to replace him on the Camp Nou bench.

As noted above, however, over the past 24 hours an entirely different name has been heavily pushed as a potential instillation in Catalonia.

The tactician in question? Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag, of course a compatriot of Koeman, is the current heavyweight manager of Eredivisie Ajax. The 51-year-old has long been praised for his style of football across the continent, with Ajax’s scintillating debut in the new campaign seemingly attracting attention in Barcelona.

According to a report from the Spanish media El Nacional, not only ten Hag were lined up by Joan Laporta and co. as a possible successor to Koeman, but, in fact, an “agreement in principle” already exists for the Dutchman to take the reins of Camp Nou.

Such an agreement would see his arrival materialize in the summer of 2022, so as not to capsize the boat at Ajax mid-season.

Not only that, but it is also claimed that ten Hag has already made a list of transfer goals to his potential future employers.

The former Utrecht boss is said to have an eye on all Matthijs de Ligt and Donny van de Beek – both lined up under his watch at Ajax – Dani Olmo, Ryan Gravenberch and, inevitably, Erling Haaland.
