Spanish report suggests Barcelona will consider accepting United’s offer for De Jong

Another night, another Frenkie de Jong story to tell.

Barcelona’s financial struggles have been well documented over the past year. The collapse has seen Lionel Messi’s contract offer torn to shreds and they are now struggling to register new players in the transfer market.

The problems at Camp Nou are further explained by Carmen Torres in a report for a Spanish newspaper Mark. She claims that, at the moment, the only sale that seems feasible is that of Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong.

United’s interest figures prominently in the report. Apparently an offer worth £60m plus £20m in bonuses was dropped off and Barcelona don’t think he will receive that kind of money for another player.

Moreover, suits at Barcelona consider the offer ‘too big not to accept’ as rumors of a move to Old Trafford continue.

We are still no more aware of De Jong’s feelings about coming to United ahead of next season with no Champions League football on offer, but his air may change to stay in Barcelona if they decide to cash out by accepting our reported offer.

Only time will tell if Erik ten Hag can get his mane to build United’s midfield.
