Nil Ruiz will be the latest addition to Barcelona’s youth and reserve line-up for the 2022/23 season, with the Blaugrana ready to sign him this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona will secure Nil Ruiz’s services during the summer transfer window. The prodigious 19-year-old goalkeeper is the latest young prospect to confirm his move to the Catalan club following his exploits for CF Damm in the 2021/22 season.

Nil Ruiz is one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers, with the teenage wonderkid having made waves in age group football in Spain in recent years. The Spaniard spent most of his formative years at CF Damm and has been a revelation in División de Honor Juvenil de Fútbol Group III this season.

The 19-year-old was the division’s best goalkeeper and broke a record this season after going 953 minutes without conceding and ten straight games without conceding. It’s no surprise, then, that Ruiz has impressed scouts at some of Europe’s hottest clubs, including Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have been active in the market to bolster their youth roster and reserve squad during the summer transfer window. To that end, several players are already set to join Barcelona, with Emre Demir and Pablo Torre standing out among the pack.

Barcelona’s philosophy regarding young players has changed for the better in the past couple of years, with their financial difficulties prompting them to promote the most promising youngsters to the first team. Pedri, Gavi and Nico Gonzalez are among the prodigies who have benefited from such a prospect.

As a result, prodigious prospects are inclined to join Barcelona in search of a fast track to first-team football, and Nil Ruiz might be no different. With Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the wrong side of 30, Ruiz could have the chance to break into the Barcelona first team in a few years.

Recent reports have also claimed ter Stegen could be on Barcelona’s transfer list, although Xavi Hernandez was quick to rule out an exit. Even so, Ruiz has a bright future ahead of him and will have every chance of succeeding at Camp Nou. The 19-year-old prodigy could soon face another Spanish prodigy, Ferran Quetglas, who will join Real Madrid this summer.
