Francisco Trincao’s departure from Barcelona would be good news for B-team captain Alex Collado, who will be promoted to first-team for the 2021-22 season.

Barca confirmed on Sunday that Trincao are heading to the Premier League to spend the season on loan with Wolves after a difficult first year at Camp Nou.

The young Portuguese’s departure means Collado will be rewarded for his impressive performances last season and move up to first-team level, according to Sport’s Albert Rogé.

Collado played a key role for Garcia Pimienta’s side last season after returning from injury as the team advanced to the playoffs before being beaten in an epic shootout against UCAM Murcia .

The 22-year-old has scored 16 goals in 77 total appearances for Barcelona B, as he made his debut for the first season of the 2018-19 campaign under Ernesto Valverde.

Collado has yet to play for Ronald Koeman, but his contract with the club was extended in March. His agreement now runs until 2023 and includes a buyout clause set at 100 million euros.

The youngster spoke about his future in May and made it clear how determined he is to succeed at Camp Nou.

“I’ve been here for 11 years and I’ve taken it step by step knowing what you want, how to train, how to grow, and I’m clear what I want to do is keep playing here and stay at Barca for a long time.

“I want to succeed at Barça. I’ve always wanted to be here and I’m proud and grateful for the trust the club has placed in me.

Meanwhile, former B-team coach Garcia Pimienta said ahead of his departure that he wanted to see Collado in the first team next season.

“Alex Collado has been making a difference for many seasons now. We are very happy with his connection with Barcelona for two more seasons. I would love to see him in the first team next year and get a lot of minutes.

Koeman should have the chance to check out Collado very soon with the squad due to return for pre-season checks on July 9-10 before a first training session on July 12.

Two friendly matches have already been scheduled later this month. Barca will face Nastic on July 21 and Girona three days later at Estadi Johan Cruyff.
