A preview of Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez’s plans for Ousmane Dembele’s place in his squad was provided on Friday.
The dead end of the contract
The subject of the future of the wide man Dembele has, of course, taken its place in the forefront of the gossip surrounding developments at Camp Nou in recent times.
It comes as the Frenchman’s contract continues to end …
Amid a frustrating time in the Catalan capital, which saw Dembele fail to truly establish himself as a key artist due to a dismal fate on the injury front, the former Borussia Dortmund player refused to put the pen to paper under new conditions.
This means that, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2022, Dembele will be free to open negotiations with foreign clubs over the prospect of a free transfer as early as next month.

Dembele’s position, in turn, had resulted in suggestions that the 24-year-old could even be punished by the powers that be at Camp Nou, thanks to a permanent ban from the stands.
Xavi’s plans revealed
If the last word coming out of the Spanish media on Friday is anything to say, then such a development seems highly unlikely.
This comes from the fact that Diario Sport have given insight into Xavi’s immediate plans for Dembele.
It is assured that, once he is in top form, “everyone knows” that the explosive winger will be granted first choice status to the Barcelona attacking right.
As a result, Dembele is expected to feature at least to some extent in the Blaugrana’s encounter with Real Betis this weekend, before being reintroduced into the starting XI by Xavi for the club’s crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
